How often should air conditioning be serviced?
Generally, you should get your AC serviced at least once a year.
Here’s the full lowdown.
How often should you service your air conditioner?
Unless your air conditioner has an effective rated output of over 12kW, you don’t have to get it serviced. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea! Rather, it’s best to get your AC serviced at least once a year.
This will ensure that your AC is working efficiently, which can lead to the following:
- A longer lifespan
- Cheaper energy bills
- Avoiding costly repairs
- Better air quality
If your AC is still under warranty, you’ll also need to have it serviced regularly to ensure your warranty remains valid. Usually, warranties stipulate that you need to service your AC at least once a year – but always check to make sure!
How often should you get your AC serviced if it’s over 12kW?
If your AC has an effective rated output of over 12 kW, you’ll legally need to get it regularly inspected by a certified energy assessor. This inspection should take place at least once every five years. But of course, it’s wise to have your AC serviced more regularly. As with smaller AC units, we would recommend getting your AC serviced at least once a year – perhaps more, depending on usage! Search your postcode to find your local trade
